LONGi Hi-MO X10 Scientist LR7-72HVH, one of the 650 W panels whose datasheets are compared

Eleven LONGi panels in our catalogue are rated 650 W. Their datasheets differ in voltage, current, glass and weight: each figure, each link.

A search for the LONGi 650W datasheet assumes one document. There are eleven. Our catalogue holds eleven LONGi panels rated 650 W — five in the Hi-MO 9 line and six in the Hi-MO X10 line — and each belongs to its own datasheet family. This page puts the 650 W row of each one side by side, taken from the product records, with a link to the product and to its family datasheet.

Every datasheet link opens the family page: the full electrical table for each power class in the range, the mechanical drawing figures and the PDF. The complete list for all series is on the LONGi datasheets index.

What the eleven have in common

  • Module efficiency within a fifth of a point: from 24.06% on the Hi-MO X10 Scientist LR8-66HVD to 24.2% on the Hi-MO 9 Ice-Shield, with 24.1% on the other nine.
  • The same power temperature coefficient, −0.260%/°C, on every one.
  • The same footprint wherever the record states it: 2,382 × 1,134 mm. Two records, the Hi-MO 9 HydroClear and the Hi-MO 9 LR7-72HYD, state no dimensions, so their family datasheet is the place to read them.
  • The same price, AED 403 on each product page.
  • The same stated warranty: 12 years on the product and 30 years on performance.

So the choice between them is not about power or efficiency. It is about the three columns that do move.

Where they differ: voltage and current

The model code tells you the electrical shape. The LR8-66 models state an open-circuit voltage between 49.42 V and 49.82 V; the LR7-72 models state 51.3 V to 54.23 V. That is the figure a string is counted with. Ten Hi-MO 9 Edge panels in series add up to 10 × 49.52 = 495.2 V at standard test conditions; ten Hi-MO X10 Guardian LR7-72HVDF panels add up to 10 × 54.23 = 542.3 V. The 47 V between them can be the difference between a string that fits an inverter's input window and one that does not, before the cold-morning correction explained in how to read a solar panel datasheet.

Short-circuit current varies more than voltage. The LR7-72 records run from 14.26 A (Hi-MO 9 LR7-72HYD) to 15.31 A (Hi-MO X10 Guardian LR7-72HVHF). Among the LR8-66 records the Hi-MO 9 Edge states 13.16 A, the HydroClear 13.46 A and the Ice-Shield 13.34 A, while the Sea-Shield record states 16.30 A and the Hi-MO X10 Scientist LR8-66HVD 16.54 A. We print each figure as its record gives it. An inverter's maximum input current per MPPT has to be checked against the row of the model you order, never against another 650 W panel.

Where they differ: glass and weight

Three models are single-glass and state 28.5 kg: the Hi-MO X10 Scientist LR7-72HVH 650W, the Guardian LR7-72HVH and the Guardian LR7-72HVHF. Most dual-glass models state 33.5 kg. The Hi-MO 9 Edge LR8-66HYD 650W states 35.7 kg and the Hi-MO 9 Ice-Shield LR8-66HYD 650W, with a 3.2 mm front glass over a 2 mm rear glass, states 41.6 kg.

On a roof that adds up. Ten single-glass panels weigh 285 kg; ten Ice-Shield panels weigh 416 kg — 131 kg more for the same 6.5 kWp, before rails and clamps. A structural check on an older roof starts from that row of the datasheet.

The family names also mark what the frame or glass was built for — Anti-Dust, Anti-Glare, Sea-Shield, Ice-Shield, HydroClear. Two of these lines can be read against each other on the Hi-MO X10 vs Hi-MO 9 comparison, and any two panels can be opened side by side from compare.

How many 650 W panels a system takes

Power class changes the count, not the energy. Our sizing calculator works a household into a required array; the grid-tied system for a house, for example, needs 5.57 kWp for 25.4 kWh a day. With the 550 W panel the calculator proposes, that is eleven modules. With a 650 W module it is 5,570 ÷ 650 = 8.6, so nine — two fewer panels to mount, each 2,382 mm long instead of 1,990 mm.

Other power classes people look up

The same approach works for the other wattages that are searched by number. These are their family datasheets:

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there one LONGi 650W datasheet?

No. Eleven panels in our catalogue are rated 650 W and they belong to eleven datasheet families: five Hi-MO 9 and six Hi-MO X10. Each family has its own datasheet page with the full table for every power class in its range and the PDF.

What is the open-circuit voltage of a LONGi 650W panel?

It depends on the model. The records state 49.42 V to 49.82 V on the LR8-66 models and 51.3 V to 54.23 V on the LR7-72 models, so a string of ten differs by more than 40 V between the two shapes. Use the figure on the datasheet of the exact model you are buying.

How much does a LONGi 650W solar panel weigh?

Between 28.5 kg and 41.6 kg. The three single-glass Hi-MO X10 models (LR7-72HVH Scientist, LR7-72HVH Guardian and LR7-72HVHF) state 28.5 kg, most dual-glass models state 33.5 kg, the Hi-MO 9 Edge states 35.7 kg and the Hi-MO 9 Ice-Shield 41.6 kg.

Which LONGi 650W panels are single-glass?

Three of the eleven: the Hi-MO X10 Scientist LR7-72HVH, the Hi-MO X10 Guardian LR7-72HVH and the Hi-MO X10 Guardian LR7-72HVHF. Their records state a single 3.2 mm coated tempered front glass and 28.5 kg; the other eight state dual or double glass.
